I happen to like Maria Menounos. She has always made me laugh on Howard Stern, been very open about battling her weight and has succeeded greatly. Her body is amazing, which is why this upsets me so much. Maria is the spokesperson for a new product called Kellogg’s To Go breakfast shake. The idea is to get America not to skip breakfast, which I totally support. Here is where I have an issue, ready?
The ingredients: water, protein blend (water, nonfat milk, whey protein concentrate, soy protein isolate), sugar, contains two percent or less of polydextrose, maltodextrin, canola oil, natural and artificial flavors, magnesium phosphate, potassium citrate, tricalcium phosphate, gellan gum, celluose gum, soy lecithin, mono and diglycerides, ascorbic acid (vitamin c), salt, potassium phosphate, carrageenan, corn syrup solids, sucralose, vitamin e acetate, vitamin k1, acesulfame potassium, niacinamide, vitamin d3, calcium pantothenate, vitamin b12, zinc sulfate, vitamin a palmitate, ferric pyrophosphate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin b6), roboflavin (vitamin b2), managnese sulfate, thiamin hydrochloride (vitamin b1), potassium iodide, folic acid, biotin, chromium chloride, sodium molybdate, sodium selenite.
I will just choose a few poisons: polydextrose, matodextrin, canola oil (always GMO), SUGAR, sucralose and corn syrup solids JUST TO NAME A FEW.
WHY would ANYONE in their right mind promote a product so obviously bad for you? One word kids: MONEY.
I still love her, but sometimes celebs (not just Maria, obvs) need to think things completely through and have SOME sort of moral compass. I beg of these celebs to think about the future, but maybe my plea is futile…..sigh
I drink protein shakes because I had gastric bypass surgery 7 years ago and would never drink one of these. How can anyone put something like that in their body and feel good about it afterward?
